The Nursing Clinical Ladder is a structured program with a goal to guide nurses in their advancement, both clinically and into future leadership roles. It is used to recognize advanced performance and professional development. The Clinical Ladder differentiates levels of nursing expertise and contributions in three progressive tiers.

Program Goals

• Support nurses to perform at the top of their license using evidence-based practice to provide consistently safe, high-quality care with the optimal patient and family care experience.
• Develop future nurse leaders through professional development activities.
• Engage exemplar nurses and nurse leaders as mentors for developing future exemplary direct patient care nurses.
• Support retention and recruitment of the experienced clinical/direct patient care professional registered nurse.
